Horses of this breed are often confused with Andalusian horses and vice versa. This is not surprising because they are a separate breeding line in Andalusian horses. Therefore, it can be said that all Thoroughbred Spanish horses are Andalusian breed, but not all Andalusian horses are Thoroughbred Spanish horses.
The breed was officially recognized in 1912.
